All These Garlands Prove Nothing
2012 — 2013
A record of different hair stylings donned between the years of 2008 to 2012. Each portrait conveys the same subject. Its purpose was to illustrate how arbitrary an identity may seem once specific embellishments are altered or disregarded altogether, to stress the dubiousness inherent within a singular picture of a person. The drawings, done using graphite, ballpoint pen ink and marker on paper, cannot accurately portray the people and places the subject has been in the times allotted. What these portraits do capture is how cyclical time feels, for each persona is at issue with the other. To look at the series, collectively, is to look upon each portrait through the filter of memory.
